    wastegate plumbing, nothin special

For the longest time I've hated the way my truck sounded at WOT simply due to having the wastegate dumped to atmo. I went to a local muffler shop and had this done. Sounds WAY better - actually sounds like a turbo now instead of an annoyingly loud hissing sound.

a wastegate should never be merged into the exhaust as a 90*. With any airflow merger its always best to stay with direction of flow as best as possible.

Since the two pressure are at different rates they can cause turbulance and also effect back pressure. it can also cause boost creep

Not sure. I just plumbed the gate back into the exhaust pipe cuz I didn't like the way it sounded with the gate vented to atmo.

It does kinda look like that due to the camera orientation. Can't really tell from the pics, but it actually merges at a much lower angle. I know better than to do stuff like this

youll make more power with a WG vented to atmosphere but that isnt always the case for ppl. merging it around a 45* angle works the best

Is that because the pressures of the turbine and WG discharges don't have to fight each other? If so, it makes sense.

I was going to put a turbo at the end of my exhaust just for the wastegate to atm.....wasn't even going to run the feed to the motor
blown transmissions are about as useful as 97% of the guys on this forum
