Does anybody know the max ithe 5.3 can be bored out to? I know you can go to the 5.7 and use LS1 internals is this the max?

you cant safely go more than 3.90. It is a different casting than the 6.0, so it will not take the 4.0 bore.

yeah, i heard that you shouldnt go beyond 5.7 because of the thickness of the cylinder walls

I realized this after reading some of his posts. Couldn't find the one about the 383. Can anybody help?
I think its a bored out 5.3L with a stroker crank. Yes you can do a 383, but you will need to change the internals.
