The dealers can be strict because they're getting pinched by GM because of bad business practices and the UAW's hold for the last 75 or so years. Some dealers are hard up enough for work right now to fix it under warranty WITH the SC on it...

I wouldnt even worry about it Chevrolade lol, save up for the FLT stage 5 like Im doing. I lost my second gear a few weaks ago on my truck with 36k on it and a 4.8, which is screwed btw LOL. Your tranny should get around fine with just the first and third gears for a while.
