    yes, the 4.8 is a member of the ls1 family. its a gen3 motor with parts that are interchangable with the camaro,t/a 5.3,6.0 etc. whats with the technicalness? the point is, the hemi might be a 5.7, but it is not a potent gen3 5.7. liter motor.

    Yes it is part of the family but not an ls1. The point is people throw around the name like it is going out of style. I don't know if it makes them feel better to say they have an ls1 or what but there is only 1 all aluminum 5.7 engine and thats the ls1. Dont take it as a hit on you just thought people should know that just because they have a 4.8 or 5.3 doesn't mean they have an ls1. Interchangable parts-yes, but still a different animal.

    Hemi owners would really be crying if the trucks had the aluminum block 5.7L LS1 engines in them. When the LS2 came to the market all us truck owners could have had the 6.0L upgrade. Now we have the option of the L92 6.2L engine. Bring on the tears crybabies.
