my dog daisy was pretty bad when i got her, tore up everything, peed everywhere, left a trail of destruction for me nearly everyday. it took a good 5 or 6 years for her to become somewhat normal, but she has been a great dog other then that. very kind to other animals. one time she brought my nephew a baby hummingbird in her mouth, it had fallen from its nest. It was cold out so he warmed it up in his hands and it eventually got its wing straightened out and flew off.

She was barking like crazy in the backyard one day and wouldn't come when i called her to come in, so i go out there and she found 2 baby rabbits she had corralled and was keeping them in one spot. i caught them and raised them up a bit until they were old enough to go out on their own. Despite all her problems she has been a wonderful dog. Recently her back legs started to seem weak and shaky, then just a few days before Christmas she had pretty much lost all use of her back legs.

i brought her to the vet and they said it was spinal deterioration and will only get worse and recommended putting her down. she is 14 years old now which is pretty old for a purebred beagle. They said they could try steroids but didn't expect it to help at all. So i have her in my apt with me, giving her the meds, she is peeing at least once a day on my carpets, (luckily i have a steam cleaner) but she is walking around some now, a little off balance but she is improving. I know the time will be coming soon that i have to say goodbye to her, but im hoping for at least another year.
