07 LQ9 w/5 miles on it-$1,900

There is an 07' aluminum blocked LQ9 with L92 heads and 90mm L92 truck intake/TB with 5 miles on it at Snyder's salvage yard in Holland, TX. Comes with computer, MAF...everything. Just drop it in for $1,900. I figured I would tell you guys and gals about it. Jon and myself saw it with our own eyes. I have nothing to put it in otherwise I would have bought it...just what I need, another motor laying around.

Could it be a 5.3L block from an SSR or a LS1/LS6 block, maybe LS2 or L76? If it has L92 heads on it chances are pretty high its not an originally shortblock, also. I know, lets tear that dog apart and see what's inside. :rock:

Ok, Greg makes a good point....the Holden L76 is a 6.0L aluminum block motor. It IS NOT AN LQ9. This motor has not been sold in the US until recently when Pontiac introduced it in the G8.

wrong the 2007 NNBS chevy and gmc vmax come with a lq9 6.0 L76 or L92 heads. and yes an all alum block.

Thank You...That is what it was out of. I believe they made an alum block 5.3L for the vmax also, not sure about the heads the used on it.

What all is involved in making this thing low compression? Just heads and pistons? Looking for a motor to build and this one seems like a good deal!

I think the compression is around 10.3 to 1. CNC port the L92 heads to 75cc chambers and that should put you in the upper 9 to 1 CR.

The all aluminum 5.3L you speak of is the L33. It was used in the 03 SSR and ex cab 4WD trucks. It is considered the 5.3L HO. There was also another type of aluminum 5.3L, called the LM4. Its output was the same as the LM7, and it was found in the extended length versions of the Envoy and Trailblazer.

Do you see a pattern? Even though the LM4 is dimensionally the same, has the same output, and has the same parts as the LM7, GM had to change the RPO on the motor solely because of the aluminum block.

So, with that said, there is no RPO for an aluminum block LQ9. The motor you guys are talking about is the L76--like I said before. This motor is the Gen IV version of the Gen III LQ9.

I say Tyler is right on this but wrong for wearing a dress. The only thing that matters is that someone on this forum buys this engine. If I were closer I'da snatched it up already and it would be on ebay.

What parts are inside this engine? What # is on the block? The engine code is an LQ9 # and the aluminum block is letter "N" in the #. It is what it is. The L76 is a car motor found in the Pontiac G8. Maybe they just slap a truck intake and oil pan on it. When you call Snyders and ask for an L76....you WILL NOT get the engine I'm talking about. This is not a fly by night salvage yard either, it is top notch service and parts.

Kurt--I am not butt hurt, nor am I wrong. I am just razzin ya about this, but the motor is an L76.

And I quote: "The Vortec 6000 L76 is a Generation IV small block V8 truck engine and features variable cam phasing, along with Active Fuel Management. He will bring it lol, chevy calls it either lq9 or 6.0 max. So in theory yes the older lq9 motors were cast iron but thew new "lq9" or 6.0 max is all alum, block heads, pistons. it comes in the vmax truck for chevy an gmc.

If you call Snyder's salvage yard and ask for a L76, they will tell you they don't have one...if you ask for a LQ9 or even a LQ4, they will gladly hook you up with one of about 15 that they have. I don't care what engine it is, if you want a 6.0L you better ask for a LQ9/LQ4 and then go from there. When you buy it, you can call it whatever you want.:taunt:

"Engine Block - RPO LH6/LC9/L76/L92
The engine block is a cam-in-block deep skirt 90 degree V-configuration with 5 crankshaft bearing caps. The engine block is cast aluminum. The 5 crankshaft bearing caps each have 4 vertical M10 and 2 horizontal M8 mounting bolts. The camshaft is supported by 5 camshaft bearings pressed into the block."
