Only one more Friday, this year, left of racing at Denton Dragway. Went last night and got a personal best on the sorriest track in the south. Ran a 8.490 at 80.98 MPH on the 1/8th. If I could only hook up this thing would fly! Now to install the new OE 4.10 gears and get the stand-alone fuel system so I can use the NOS!

Allen, took the truck to the dyno and they made four pulls. The AFR tune is right on. 12.5-13.0 through the entire full pull. The guys can't keep my transmission in drive and the convertor locked up for some reason. When the transmission is in third gear and they floor it, the convertor unlocks. The dyno operator thought it was in 4th and shifted the 3rd and then unlocked. I am going to put a dead-man's switch to lock the convertor when on the dyno. The HP/TQ readings were all over the place because of the convertor. I know you love to hear this but I'm going to need another PCM for 4.10s in the near future. Can you think of any settings to change in the tune to make the convertor stay locked in third and not unlock?

Sure, we can lock it in third, but even GM unlocks the fbody's converter at wot. You will get a better time with it unlocked.

With the 3600 stall it goes wild on the dyno unlocked. Maybe I can just wire into the PCM/transmission to lock it in manually when doing a dyno run. No problem. Maybe we can try it to see the difference. I don't know if the single disk convertor would handle that much power and torque while locked. It will probably need the 3 disk convertor to manage the power.

Great times Red. Get the traction going!

Some have claimed to pickup ET with the TC locking in 3rd. Myself I run a .1 better by not locking it in 3rd on the track. I'm with you I think you'd be pushing the single clutch style verter.

with my t/c locking in 3rd it drops 1000 rpms and running 2/10's slower and 1 mph slower, do you want to be a dyno queen or a track queen lol.

turbo guys like the t/c locked to keep the boost up.

I run 102mph in the Av with the converter unlocked and about 100mph with it locked. The main reason to lock the converter with a turbo is to keep a load on the turbo, but mine has no problem spooling up.
And like you v8, the trucks slows down a bit with it locked, kind of pulls the truck down.

later,
allen
