    What do you guys think?

How about a new duramax with an 80e? I'm sure the 80E is possible with the right converter and flywheel, and I know it will hold.
I think there was an article a while back where a company did this. It was in a regcab truck 1/2 ton.

    This think would be crazy!

Allen, that would be great. It seems so easy to get crazy power out of the Duramax. I bet it would be an expensive swap, but unbelieveable when done.

I've heard talk of doing it but everyone says don't because of how heavy it is. The 1/2 frame won't hold up to the massive weight and torque. It's what I've heard, not what I know.

I would love to see it done. I think it'd get a whole lot of attention, and very do-able.

hey red, maybe some additional crossmembers, supports and beefy susupension, then it may hold up.
I'm no where near getting started, but it would be awesome and I've had my eye open for a good inexpensive engine.

There is a 6.5l 1/2 ton z71 out here where i live. They came from the factory like that too. This isnt the frist one i have seen either so maybe asside from stiffer front springs and suspension pieces i dont think the weight will be a problem considering that the 6.5 probably out weighs the d max by a little bit since the dmax has aluminum heads. Ill look at my buddys truck, hes got a 1 ton waiting to put in a rebuilt 6.5l I have a 1/2 ton truck waiting for me to get off my ass and build a motor for it so i will look today and see the differences in the two frames. Im sure if any difference the front crossmembers will be different. You can solve that with a 4x4 frame though. That would be cool to see a d max in a 1/2 ton 4x4. 4 wheel burnouts! you will probably need 4wd just to keep the tires from spinning or put 20" wide tires in the rear. 4wd or not i think it would be a smokin fast truck

Oh, one more thing. the turbo might have to be relocated cause it might hit the firewall.
