Okay so I ran across some Efans for $50 bucks. Are they worth it. I hear some claims of 15-20 HP?? Is that realistic? Also will they produce enough to cool my engine? One more thing. Is it something that I could install myself?? How do you hook them up? Allen have a harness I could but or something?? come on guys let me know. I really need to start upgrading my truck!!!

    Thank,
    Daniel

i hear the fans help alot. besides the HP gain. it makes more room for whatever else you want to do under the hood. i alread have dual elec fans. but i want some for wifeys 01 Tahoe. i think i did hear that allen has a harness for that. im sure redheartbeat will chime in soon.he knows for sure.

Yeah Allen makes a nice plug n play harness for em. I don't know about the HP gains though, 15-20 seems kinda high to me. I would say $50 sounds like a pretty good deal.

Oh wait, what kind of e-fans? F-body or aftermarket? How many cfm? etc.

I ran the Fbody fans on my '92 with a 34" radiator. They worked great but I wasn't running A/C.

You will have to fabricate mounts or use radiator zip ties like they sell at the zone, through the radiator. I always have problems figuring out how to seal the top of the radiator off for air flow. If you have a metal brake there at the body shop you should have no problems making something if you can just modify the stock pieces. I'd got for a new 34" radiator and 2005 electric fans with Allens fan harness. That will look so factory stock instead of hybrid as the LS1 fans would be.

I used the factory 2 piece fan shroud and just cut off the shroud part. I mounted the e-fans and bolted up the upper & lower shroud/rad. supports over the top of them. Looks stock as hell.

I installed the LS1 fans on my '01 5.3 w/28" rad using the NELSON harness. Worked great. Worth the money. Use conservative numbers and just say the mech fans take 12 hp to run. Then use just under 1 hp to turn the alternator for the electrical fans.... you do the math. Also the elect fans will turn on and off when needed. The mech clutch is an approximation.

    Just do it!

You also will get faster engine warm-ups with the electric fans since no air flows over the radiator until they kick on or you start driving.

$50 go for it dude, Thats a great price. Im running the ls1 fans with out any issues. I fabricated my own mounts looks real clean. FWIW I tested before and after 5hp/tq +or-... Dont sound impressive but its not bad for the $$ IMO.
