Thread: Aluminum Intake Pipe

    I'm thinkin about making an intake out of aluminun pipe and adding a K&N to avoid spending $300 on the kit. Do you think that the aluminum pipe will produce higher intake temps than plastic? Is this a good idea?? ANyone done this before? Any suggestions would be great.

    my aluminum tube gets damn hot. I'd do plastic if you can.

    hey what type of gas milage do you get with your 6.0
    2006 1500HD Intake and HPtune,Cognito Steering kit, comp 218/224 cam
    1994 chevy P/U 1500 Sportside 330 H.O. Crate 4.11 Eaton posi. 150 Wet Nitrous Holly kit w/t external full cell

    I have a crew cab 1500 and I get anywhere from 17-20 on the hwy and about 15 in the city...depending on how my foot is in it

    i only have about 3000 miles on it, so hopefully it will get a little better...

    i need to find out what the differance is between our motors i am only getting 12

    I HAVE A 6.0L AND IT GETS 20-22 ON THE HIGHWAY DUE TO THE STS TURBO AND THE NELSON TUNE. I AM RUNNING A 373 LOCK UP REAR.
    I HAD AN ALUM. TYPE INTAKE AND IT RAN FINE I THINK IT WAS A BRUTE FORCE INTAKE. IT LOOKS SIMPLE TO MAKE AFTER I BOUGHT IT. THE ONLY THING YOU MAY NEED IS THE 90* FITTING INTO THE THROTTLE BODY.

    it would be best to use pvc with some sort of cone filter and custom made box.

    Looks like you have a 1500HD 4x4?? Mine is not the HD and it is 2wd.

    What about heat wraping on the alum.
    2500HD 6.0 - K&N filter, TB bypass, Ported and Polished TB, no cats, SD Tune BY Nelson, 42# injectors, STS, T-67 .96 A/R, @5psi Walbro 255lph, Air to Water Intercooler, coolingmist kit @ 6ghp
    CJ-7 - K&N, TBI 350, dana44 front locker, 9" ford rear spooled three link, 38.5" SS, bead locks,and tons more.
