I'm off on vacation for a couple weeks, until July 5th, and the kids have gone to their grandparents for a week. Lucky us! The girl and I need to get out and do something and we are up for suggestions for things to do in Texas. We've thought about camping but she says it's much too hot for that. Any ideas for things to do or places to see that might be interesting? She's not into bars and night clubs and I've backed way down on the drinking myself so those might be out of the question unless it's like a night out at Billy Bob's to see a known performer.

We are in Denton but almost anywhere within 4 hours of driving is within reason. No trips to El Paso.

Rebuilding a house sounds like fun. Maybe we can call the home improvement guys and they'll have it done is one week? At least you guys in Miss are trying. They are waiting for the gov't to do it all in LA.

I keep forgetting about that place. We need to go there with the little ones, 11 and 12. We go to Galveston every once in a while. That would be a good touristy place to visit. Any more suggestions?

True, The Kemha boardwalk is fun. They have quite a few restaurants (joe's, landry's, Aquarium, Cadillac Bar and Grill, Kemha Crab house, and some expensive cajun restaurant. They also have some carnival games through-out the walk and they have some fair style rides. It could make a good weekend of fun. then there's Galveston Island. They've got Moody Gardens and the just opened a Schlitterbahn up not too long ago. And even though the beaches there aren't Great. It's a beach non the less. And if you wanted to stay there a lil longer there are plenty off Condo's for rent and some great hotels( The San Luis Resort). I'd also suggest mid-evil times there in Dallas. It was pretty fun. Any ?'s

I agree about being too hot to camp. Head into Oklahoma and get a cabin around Broken Bow or something. There are some nice ones up there that are withing a few hours drive.

Go west of Kerrville in the hillcountry and go to a bed and breakfast. Nice ride, they cook breakfast and then you can enjoy the history of the area without the "hotel" feel.....

    Enjoy
