Thread: Cam timming question

    Does anyone know how to time a cam in a 6.0l Properly? Im in the middle of a cam swap and now im stuck with no book in the middle of things in the middle of my buddy's shop. Can anyone please help me?

    There is a timing dot on the crankshaft timing chain gear and another on the camshaft timing gear. The crank one should be straight up and the cam one should be straight down when the gears and chain are mounted. One full revolution of the crank should put the timing dot on the cam gear at the very top.

    rotate teh crank twice and make sure both dots are right next to each other if they are a little off then you got them lined up one tooth off

    thanks for the help. I got my cam in last night. It took me about 5 and a half hours to get my truck running again. Thank god allen was online last night to answer my question. I had my truck in a million pieces and no book on timming the cam. Thanks again allen for the help. Also thanks for the quick responses on here about timming the cam.
