Im thinking about buying either HP Tuners or EFI Live. What is the easiest to use and how easy is it to totally screw up your truck tuning it?

Are these tuning softwares pretty much self explainatory?

Id like to get into doing my own eventually but I dont wanna screw up my truck

If it was self explanatory everyone would do it.

Well I dont mean like a Hypercrap easy. I mean like is it mostly tables of numbers and you have to know what to change or is there buttons that tell you what they do. You just need to know what does what

Getting down to the granularity that professional tuners do is not trivial. I'm not sure to what level HP or EFI allows you to directly muck around w/ the values in maps and tables.

Now, from what i've seen of this software, it has some very nice data collection features, useful graphical displays, etc. If you do mail order tunes (Nelson hopefully ), it may help understand how well it's working, and you could better give feedback to the tuner for retunes.

A must have when tuning is a wideband oxygen sensor. Be sure your HPTuner has the WB and you learn how to use it. If you mess with something and end up leaning out the motor you could fry it.
