Ok, so monday I am taking the truck to the tranny shop to have it checked out, if its gonna be more than about $500 to fix I am considering just a brand new tranny. I am thinking a FLP 4l60 or a GMPP 4l65, anyone else have a suggestion? My third option is to buy the parts and the local guy will build it right, but that doesnt come with a waranty so I don't know

If replacement is the choice, and unless you plan to produce more than 500 rhwp, it's hard to go wrong w/ the FLP 60e

The parts alone would cost you $1000+ to build yours up to that level. Plus the labor and no warranty like you said. The FLP includes some trick stuff your local guy may not want to deal with.

I've seen the 65e in the $2200 price range on GM online sites. Not sure of the 65e torque rating in a truck, but the FLP is probably equal if not better.

One thing to keep in mind is that the FLP is setup for vacuum modulated pressure control.

If you decide to replace, one vote for the FLP.

Hey Injected1, you may want to add this one to your list if you go the replacement route.

    Raptor 4L60E

The downside is that it probably costs $200-$300 more than the FLP. The upside is that it INCLUDES a 2800 rpm TC! Higher stall is available for extra $$. If you don't already have a higher stall upgrade, that's good bang for the buck.

If you want it to last for a while you will have to shell out some bucks..

If you go cheap, you get what you paid for..

yeah, thats why I dont wanna go cheap, but I also cant afford to shell out 3 grand for a tranny right now, thats why I am looking at a stock 4l65e and having it built later

There is a company on Ebay that sells built 4L60Es for about 1400.00 minus the bell housing, reuse yours.

    Is this the joint RedHeartbeat?

    eBay 4L60E

That's a nice piece. They also give you a $100 refund, w/ pre-paid shipping, for the core.

    Not bad.

If you can, wait a few months. GM is producing a 4l70E. It is identical to a 4l60/65e, but it has more hardended parts. The 4l65e's planets are better, but they are still breakable, ask me how I know. I did it in my daily driver. Rarely do old style 4 pin planets break.

The torque rating on the 4l70E is much higher than anything currently offered, thus the 70 designation. Some say the rights to this product were purchased by GM for use in the SS Trailblazer and future 4 speed auto trannies until the 6 speed auto is released in all autos. http://www.torquedriveinc.com/

Curious... how did you break it?
