Okay, i've decided to go for it and get the AMSOIL BMK-13 Dual Remote By-Pass kit. For $20 I bought me a 1 year preferred customer membership, so the whole kit will be like $75 less than list price.

Anyhow, i want to mount this sucker in the engine compartment. Here's pictures of the two options i'm looking at:

    Mounting option 1

    Mounting option 2

Option 2 i think looks cleaner overall. But option 1 takes less hose and probably be much less messy when changing filters. What do you guys think?

That first option is just way to UGLY!

A little extra hose is cheap and it won't be that messy changing the filters.

I don't like either option but that's just my opinion. There has to be some place else you can put that filter assy. Under the cab or something. Hell, I'd run hose all the way to under the bed of the truck before putting it under the hood.

Where do the hoses start? Can't they go under the engine and come up the space on the passenger side? Make sure they stay away from maniflods and don't hang to get snagged. Get black hoses and they will blend in better. Just my worth...

Great feedback so far guys! Keep it coming.

BTW, jethro the hoses come from an adaptor that screws onto the filter mount.

Good point RedHeartbeat. My main concern about under doing it underneath was protecting the filters from getting damaged/sheared off, but still make them easy to replace. There are some underneath examples on the AMSOIL site. But, there is plenty of protected space futher back under the bed Would oil pressure drop be a concern given the extra hose length?

So the remote filter parts cover the orig filter connection and move the whole assembly where you want it. Seeing some of the locations they show it I would not put it outside the frame rail.

First off... what's this on a membership there? I use their SD filters as they have a syn media. Filters great.

Next up, since oil changes are going to be about once a year now... I'd put it where that second battery is at. If being messy is a concern, just unbolt it. I don't forsee it taking that much time to R&R.

I'd try to run the largest filters you can get in there to increase capacity. I think you can get to around 8-8.5 quarts over the stock 6.

What it is... uses two oil filters. Syn media full flow and a bypass. Combined the motor will basically have no wear as all the crap that causes wear is trapped. Worth the cash if you plan to drive the vehicle until it falls apart.
