    coolant temp sensor question

My 1990 obs sensor has the exact same 2 wire connector that my 2003 5.3 has. Can I just use the 5.3 sensor and have my temp guage work properly or do I need the adapter?? I ordered p/n 182-2277 adapter from speedway motors but it has a 1/8 female end and my obs sensor has very large male threads, I'd say maybe 3/8ths. Any adapter to accept my obs sensor would seem to have to be very large???? I'm stumped. Thanks.

Do like the other guy that posted yesterday, go buy a 1/8"NPT to 3/8" NPT adapter. Issue done. Use your old sensor since the resistance values in sensors change over the year models.

Thanks for the input guys, but I'm still confused as my obs sensor has gigundo threads, much larger than the oil sensor.I don't know if anyone has done this but I could drill and tap the original location in the head, but the heads are already on and I don't want to botch it up. I'll check around for other adapters though. Thanks again.

Ect signal is a huge input used for fueling. Gotta have it. A temp sender is different than a temp sensor. You need a sensor for the pcm and a sender for the guages.

Street and Performance sells the exact adaptor you need. Metric to 3/8 pipe thread. Only thing that sucks is that they're polished. Yuck! Lol
