I'm having trouble with my 03 4.8 silverado tranny slipping in 2-3 shift. got 65k. it's slipping in and out when it shifts but it's only when it goes in 3rd. i just did a filter change and put 5 quarts in but not sure if it's the fluid level. also having problems slipping when making a hard left or right turn, any help would be greatly appreciated.

you're quite low on fluid I bet. You are checking the fluid hot, in park, on level ground with the engine running I assume. You may have to wipe the dipstick a few times to double check the level. Be sure it has the same amount of fluid on both sides of the dipstick.

RedHeartbeat is right. The refill/check procedure is actually kind of involved. There is a section about it in your owners manual. The bottom line: fluid must be hot, read both sides of the dipstick, add a little at a time.

Oh yeah, you're supposed to shift through each gear range, then into park, while idling, just before checking the dipstick. Something like that. Check the manual.

    Good luck.
