Weird A/C Problem..Please Help

This in regards to my 1994 GMC Truck, here as of recently Ii've been having weird A/C electrlical issues. Heres my story.

On any given day I can jump in my 94 GMC Sierra and can say without a doubt 90% time the A/C isnt going to work. I crank the truck up and let her warm up for a bit. I hit the switches to turn the A/C on (electric display unit type) and she doesnt work. I have no air flowing from the vents what so ever. I can hear a slow "hiss" for a second but thats it.

Now heres the weird part.......
After driving for a moment I turn the A/C off and look for a bit of open road. I can go from a slow roll and punch the gas. I stay on her WOT till she shifts into a higher gear. I reach over and turn the A/C back on and "VOILA"...my A/C suddenly works again? What gives.....This works most of the time but is really annoying. I have checked all my fuses and connections under the hood that I know of. Anybody got any ideas?

Sounds like the dash mounted control cente is going out or is corroded internally. Borrow a buddy's and switch it out for a day and see if it fixes your problem. My 92s took a crap at 4 months old. It was replaced and had worked perfectly after that. Salvage yards are full of the modules.

Well I got some free time today and tore into the black beast. I removed the inner glove compartment exposing some relays and some of the plastics underneath the dash to assist with checking wire connections etc.

I exposed the main control panel and checked the connections..all was good. Check every connection in the dash wheither it wa A/C related or not assuring that all were not corroded(SP) and properly seated. Still, my A/C would not work. As a last resort I got ticked off and hit the blower motor with the end of my trusty screwdriver. Wouldnt you know it the damn thing kicked on

So I am figuring that the blower motor may be on its way out or there is some trash/debris in there keeping her from spinning on command. Ill keep you updated on my findings. Thanks again

When the brushes get warn out on you blower motor, it will do just what you said.

My power leads to the blower in my old 92 corroded at the connectors inside the cab. There is a lead coming in from the fire wall that has a large guage red wire and two tones of green leads that melted on mine and the blower quit working. I replaced the connectors with crimp-on butt connectors and no more problems. There are also about 4 relays behind the glove box for misc items but I have never seen one of them fail.

Bringing this back from the dead. Sorry it took so long to get back to you guys. It turned out to be the blower motor. I got a new one at Discount Auto Parts for like 40.00. Took about an hour for me to install and man does that bitch blow. Being a single cab truck, she really cools off really quick..damn near frigid. Thanks for your help.
