I know this topic has been talked about a lot. But I want some recomendations on gears for my 4.8l manual trans truck. 3.73s, 3.90s, or 4.10s. Thanks for the input. I just want to have some fun with my stock 2wd truck.

    If it's a manual, I'd go 4.10's for sure.

I will put most of my miles on in town. but occasionaly I will be taking the truck on 3 hour trips about once a month.

The biggest thing is I want to have a little fun on the street with a decent 1/4 mile. I didn't know if 4.10s were to low or not. I don't want 1st gear to be to low where I will have to be shifting out of it early.

What size tires are you running? What transmission?

stock tires (245/70R17) and tranny. Maybe a better qustion is 10mph per 1500rpm is that about the right formula for 1st gear?

There are quite a few good rpm/gear calculators out there.
