    Hey Guys,

I want to get a set of Diamond Pistons and to cure my blow by problem, maybe a set of Total Seal rings.
Where is a good place to get a set for my stock 6.0L? I don't really want to bore it, but if I have to that is fine, I wonder if the machine shop can go .010.
I want the compression to be about 8.5:1 or a tad lower if possible. No lower than 8:1. I wanna push about 15psi into the engine as well.
I'm not upgrading the crank or rods.

    thanks,

    allen

What are you going to do to make the back end stay planted? I thought you were having issues along those lines, and I'm not sure how more power will help. Should I be slapped for discouraging a power increase? (grin)

I don't see pistons making a difference with the blow-by. Now Total Seal zero gap rings should help. Unless the pistons have gas holes drilled from the top down through to the top compression ring you won't be solving the blow-by issue. I don't know if you are familiar with that type of piston or not but the gases during compression actually enter the holes and get behind the ring and pushes it out against the cylinder wall. You end up losing a little HP due to the added friction but it's worth it for the better compression seal.

Venolia, no questions asked on the slugs.

I concur with the TSS rings. AFAIK they don't have all three gapless rings for the Gen IIIs, just two of them as I recall.

Good choice on the stock rods, powdered metal is crazy strong. If you read about how it's made it's super pure and the cap is fractured steel. When I build an all out motor for my F150, it's going to have HO powdered metal rods. They're better than billet. Mercedes AMG uses them FYI...

It's all your fault Ross, hahah jk.

I'm getting lots of blowby and I need to cure this right away. Blow by is caused by a loose seal or ring gap, right? So, I figured the total seal is the best way to seal it, is that right?
If i'm going in there and replacing the rings, I'll upgrade the pistons as well to a forged set, might as well lower the compression also.

Traction is definitely a problem lol, but I'll figure that one out. May be a bit extreme, but a small tub kit.

    thanks,

if you are going throught the trouble to rebuild the motor go ahead and get the Mahle pistons, they're soooo much lighter than diamond, and stronger to boot. powdered rods suck ass, i'd change those if i were going to up the boost. but it's not my motor or my build. the newmotor in my truck has a 5.7 with mahle 3.905 pistons and crower rods with a stock crank.

You are to blame in my case. When I saw your dyno #'s I was inspired. Then Allen started filling my head full of thoughts I couldn't get rid of. Now there's an LQ4 on the way.

    Ok, great!
I'm looking for some Diamond pistons and Total Teal rings. I'll also have the crank polished and new bearings. I'm not sure if polishing the crank requires different crank and rod bearings. What are you thoughts?

I'm not sure on the bore size, the stock bore is 4.000 so I'm not sure if just a nice hone job will be in order or a bore required. I don't think I can get .010 or .005 sized pistons If I get just a hone job, I'll slap the stock bore forged Diamonds back in with the total seal rings. As long as the tolerance is ok. If not, Diamond also has a set that is .030 over, but the engine is pretty new and doesn't need to go that far.

I called Diamond, and they said he might be able to cut some more from the pistons they currently stock to give me a lower compression instead of milling a new set. The stock bore of 4.000 will give me about a 8.7cr with a 76cc chamber. The 4.030 bore will give me about a 8.7cr as well. That is at a -13.7 and -15.0cc dished piston.

Point me in the direction if this is out of line. I don't want to go crazy with this. I already had a stroker kit picked out and new heads, lol, it can get out of hand quick!!

I only want to cure this blowby and get some lower compression so I'm just replacing the pistons with forged ones, Total Seal rings and new bearings.
I don't want to get too far into this build with the attitude of "while i'm in there, i might as well..." hahaha, it's so hard not to.

Please comment, I'm open for options!
