raced a joe gibbs

one of my dads friends showed up today with a new joe gibbs tahoe. its one bad ass looking truck if i may say so . the first thing i thought was "i didnt know there was a gibbs tahoe?" and the second was "i want to race it to see how fast it is!"

we agreed to run until 100mph.the first time we lined up i lit my tires up almost all the way through first. once i caught traction he was ahead of me by a length and was pulling. at 100 mph he was a bout 10-15 yards ahead of me. he said he wanted to race again because he heard me lose traction way bad so we went for it again.

the second time i got a decent hook and we took it on up to 90. at the end of the race his rear bumper was at my front tires.

not the raping i expected to get! my truck did me proud . he was wandering what the hell i had done to my truck

the only thing i can figure was those 20's and the weight of the tahoe, but he said it was suposed to run 14.0 stock. i know im nowhere near 14's! anyone know what the gibbs tahoe is suposed to run from the crate and what all is put into it? the exhaust sounded pretty nice.

I read in Hot Rod that the stock Joe Gibs RC truck was running right at 14.

i just read 13.8 for a silverado. the tahoe has to be way behind that but it dosent give any times. also figured out it was corsa exhaust.

A guy that i work withs friend supposedly runs 13.4 with his joe gibbs rc truck with the supercharger. Whether i believe that or not i dont know but maybe the tahoe doesnt have the supercharger.

no, it has a big ass sticker in the windshield that says supercharged

I could not imagine a stock Tahoe running anything quicker than 15.5 sans FI or NOS. That a heavy assed SUV with all the BS they load one up with.

oh its definately supercharged...with all of my mods, i couldnt imagine a non supercharged tahoe taking me off of the line. especially with a 342

Maybe he got a lemon or the tuning just isnt quite right or your truck is just badass either way he payed a hell of alot more for his tahoe and you still hung with him for alot cheaper you would put him in the dust with your next mods.

i hope the nelson tune does that much better than the hypertech tune.

Believe me his tune will my buddy has a 2000 z71 exactly like mine with the hypercrap and exhaust before the tune we would stay side by side til the 1-2 shift then he would start pulling he would a about a truck and a half by the governor. After my tune before the tranny blew by the time i pegged the speedo i had almost three trucks on him i know this is a huge difference but its the truth get the 93 tune my truck shifts at 6000 1-2 and 5900 2-3 and man does it make our big trucks haul ass. You will love it.
