will my nelson tune void my warranties?

like the title says i have a 2008 silverado with 23000 miles still under warranty and i have the extended warranty, but i broke down and bought one of nelsons awesome tunes, which i love. my question is if i need to take it in for warranty work will they void the warranty with since the nelson ecm and tcm are tuned and locked? should i just try to find a stock set of modules to keep on hand for this reason?
    thanks
    Kyle

It all really depends on the dealership. There's a lot of controversy over the issue, some people are fine bringing theirs in with the tuned ecm/tcm and having work done, and some others have tons of issues with their respective dealership. If you haven't gotten the tune yet, just keep your ecm when Nelson ships it to you and pay the extra core charge.

ya i already got it and shipped the old one back it was kinda a after thought to keep the core since its was a $300 core charge for the newer style ecm/tcms but its cheaper then buying them online

Did not know that! That's 'spensive... that changes the game a little bit. I'd just wait it out and if you break down, get a stock ecm/tcm to swap out. That's a lot of money to drop if you're not going to bring the truck in for work. That, or make some good friends at the stealership.

If you want to keep your stock modules, the core charge through us is only $150.

go on Ebay, look for the same service number PCM/TCM for sale, doesn't matter what it comes out of as long as the it is the correct service number. Get the PCM/TCM programmed with the stock tune in them and save them for backup when you have to get service work done. I have $80 in my set.

I put a stock tune back into my 08 and the dealership said they could see that I had changed it.

No.. I'm talking about the shadow effect. I tuned my original ECM, then put a stock tune back in the original when I took it in.
