    New truck I'm looking at

I found an 05' AWD SS with 88K from a member on SSS.com. He's a local guy so its better for me as most online are quite a drive. He is asking $18k. It has 22" replicas, slight drop, volant cai, d/s rotors, hard roll up tonneu cover, bed rug, and hid low beams. He took it by my dads shop and my pops said its been repaited but needs a good wet sand and polish. not scared about that being my dad ownes a body shop! the front diff just got rebuilt by GM under warranty and has had regular maint. done. from the pics ive seen(currently in iraq again!) it looks pretty good. sound like a good deal? i know there are cheaper ones out there but with the cosmetic mods thats less id have to do later leaving more money for go fast parts. plus i dont have to go any where to get it. thoughts? gary

I'd say if you can get it for $16,000, it's a great deal (atleast that's a great deal in the Chicago area). That thing has some nice stuff on it that you don't have to put on already. That tanneu cover alone is probably close to $1000. If it's black or red I wouldn't hesitate for a second, if I knew it was mechanically sound.
GET OUT OF HERE WITH THAT RICER MATH!

Id get it if it was loaded. On the other hand rebuilt front end could mean you are about to rebuild a transmission and rear end. (based on my luck so far this year)

Its black and seems to be mechanicly sound. i did some research on its history through his posts on SSS.com. I already plan on doing an 80e swap for future upgrades so not scared about that. online similar trucks that are stock are listed at $20-22K so with all the extras i figure it was a pretty good deal. nada list it for clean retail of almost $21K. gary

Yeah, I'd say its worth it myself. I too thought my truck was pretty mechanically sound, that lasted just under a year. I also drive the piss out of this poor little truck.
