    Not mine but I just thought I would open our minds a bit. One of the guys I deal with regularly at OReilly Auto Parts had his red 2004 RCSB C1500 Silverado stolen from in front of his home the 23rd of December. He had it looking really sweet rolling on 20s with the front end all customized and a 2" drop all around. Let's not forget we all drive one of the most stolen vehicles in the US and a great deal of us live within 12 hr of the Mexico border. A very good idea is some kind of hidden toggle switch to cut power to the PCM. It's also good to keep good old dad from borrowing the truck for a run to Home Depot when you're not home. Alarm systems are great but they only slow a good thief down a few seconds. A thief with a tow truck can't be stopped but it can stop the others or aggrevate them enough to just do a little damage and leave. You can cut the wheels all the way to the left when you park to aggrevate a tow truckin thief since the towed truck will be rolling the the oncoming traffic lane. I know I would be sick to my stomach for a long time if mine were stolen since it's 99% customized or rebuilt and I only carry liability since GEICO won't insure it for replacement value.

    that is a good idea what would be the easiest way to install a kill swicth? my friend has somehting similar installed on his patrol car. it kills the brake lights but once you put it in park it will not go into gear without flipping the switch first.

    If you have an automatic, there is a brake signal switch that is powered on when the ignition is on and off when you tap the brakes. It is used to signal the torque converter to release lockup when braking and to also release the shift lock mechanism that GM puts in automatic transmission vehicles. That is the same circuit your friend uses.

    Greg - check with another ins co - get an "agreed ACV policy" - if you need some names - let me know - You should be able to fully insure it

    I had my 91 Silverado stolen in Dayton Ohio at an ISCA show.
    Left my trailer which was cool. but stole the wheels and tires - battery - etc....
    What a sick feeling...

    Then I installed a kill switch - lil micro switch - def worth it
    I install them on everything.
    Very good advise - esp if you veh is a little different and a little nicer than the norm

    i have a buddy that installed a hidden switch in the hot wire to his fuel pump. another guy took out his extra cigaret lighter out and installed one in its place, when he gets out he flips the stock rubber cover up and hits the switch. it works like a charm.
    Daily driver: '97 Z-71 reg. cab, electric fans, dual bats, K&N cold air, custom built muffler, and your standard blue light special equip...
    My Baby: '67 GMC swb small back glass. 388ci stroker, old school bowtie heads est. 450hp, scat steele crank, eagle H beam rods, and Keith Black pistons, but only pushing 10:1 compression, fed by an Edelbrock 750 carb. THM350 trans. shiftkit w/manual valve body, 2800 stall going out back to some highway 3.42 gears, tubbed.

    my dad owns a business in houston called turn key column repair. for the last 20 years he travels all over the houston area fixing damaged steering columns on stolen cars. he fixes trucks all day every day with alarms and kill switches. he thinks alarms are nothing but pretty bells and whistles, and a kill switch will only stop your petty theif who dosent know what the hell they're doing. bottom line: if they want it they will get it end of story. not to say that alarms and kill switches are a bad idea. 95% of the theifs only want radios, radar detectors, and rims and a alarm will atleast keep the noobs from taking your truck to get them but they will still get all of your accessories off right where your truck sits. i have 2 alarms and a kill switch on my truck but i wouldnt be suprised to come out to my driveway and find my truck missing. every truck i have ever owned has been broken into atleast once (5 trucks in 5 years, 8 break ins), every truck had an alarm and every theif got what they wanted. thats the price to pay for driving a nice car.

    it is always exciting to walk up on them in the process! caught 2 punks in one of my trucks :flipoff: got all my stuff back and they went to jail for 2 years

    oh yeah the club is the biggest joke of all dont waste your money
