Well I'm a free agent now! Laid off!

Well like the title says I've been laid off after 15 years of service. I get a little severance pay for a short time and a good reference. I've got some jobs in the works and I can collect unemployment. I've never been fired from any job before and it is a whole new experience. I have a few ideas and some friends to help me find an new one. Anyway it is a bit scary at 41 years old to hunt for a new job but all will be ok! Just wanted to let you guys know and have some prayers said for me and the family. I'll still be at the meet in Feb. I feel for you Greg and any other jobless.

sorry Jeff. You seem to be a smart guy though. I bet you will make the best of it. Dont get too down. You will bounce back.
TX UE is at a high. I think its around 8-9%. In 2009 over 271,000 people lost their jobs in Texas.
Oklahoma is actually doing better than Texas. So are Louisiana, and Colorado lol. Tx seems to be doing a little worse than the states it touches. But the 09 outlook, to me, looked like the UE trend is on the decline.

Dang, this is the month of lay offs. Sorry to hear that Jeff!

The good thing is that your experience will help you out. You can get back into a decent job, but you will take a pay cut.

Sorry to hear Jeff. I know how hard it is out there for the older people. My dad has been laid off for 3 years and to this day every job he has been qualified for they have turned him down because he is in his 50's. Good luck.

Oh hell, Jeff. We should get together and toss a few back.

Sorry to hear you're rowing the same boat as me.

Hang in there, we'll both get through it.

BTW, what was it that you did in your last job?
