    Thealien has landed

Planning a 5.3 swap in a 1972 Jimmy and someone said I may find some info out here so I figured I would look around!

Thanks everyone. I will be needing you.

    I struck a deal on an engine/transmission (I hope its a deal)

Stripping the harness off it tomorrow and they will remove the engine/transmission for me. It is a 2007 5.3 4L60 out of a tahoe that was hit hard in the front. From what I can see it need an alt/power steering bracket, alternator, maybe a water pump, belt, MAF and worse case an intake but I don't think so.

All for $750, the transmission is almost worth that?

Sounds good. Is it a Gen3 or Gen4 engine? Gen3 historically has been a much simpler swap though people such as Street and Performance have been doing the Gen4 swap recently.

What makes the gen III a simpler swap? Everything I have read says they are very similar. If there is a reason I should not do the gen IV please let me know. I don't know for sure what it is, some places say only the LY5 in 2007 and some say both in 2007?

1GNFK13077J118886 was on the door, I couldn't read the dash one there was a broken windshield all over it.

It would appear that with a 0 in the VIN this is a gen IV LMG flex fuel engine. Is that a problem?

    Thanks

From what I have read there are 3 computers in 07 a PCM, a BCM, and a transmission computer. I am not sure how this affects a harness and a tune. I have emails into a couple tuners and have not heard back. I guess I am going to pass. If anyone wants info on the location I would be happy to help.
