    Digitize my part

    hey guys.

are there any computers designers out there that can take a part and create a 3d drawing and digitize it?

for example, if you were given an intake elbow built from metal plate and various parts and asked to create a 3d drawing using acad or solidworks or something along those lines (those are the only two applications i know of), can you?

    If so, please PM me.

    thanks,
    allen

edit: i should add that i'm interested in someone who is a pro and does this for a living or makes money at it.
no etch a sketchs accepted lol.

I can Etch-A-Sketch like crazy. Shoot it over.

(side note - do you have any 'free' CarFax credits?)

Solidworks with the FaroArm add-in would be the simplest way to do it next to using the FaroArm LaserScan software. Digitise the part using the FaroArm and reverse engineer the model using the input data into Solidworks. Sorry, don't know nothing about that stuff.

I have Solid Edge and could probably do it, but I would need so many measurements. It's impossible for me without the part IN my hands.

EDIT: I am far from a pro, but took two years of it in high school. I would be willing to try, but would be difficult without dims.

I did a CarFax for someone the other day so it's possible. Not sure how they would react if I went up there for one three times a week. It was a noble cause in this case.
