    Capacitors as bass blockers

I bought a couple of capacitors from Radioshack to use as bass blockers for my speakers but I'm not sure if they will work. Does anyone know if they need to be non-polarized? I always thought that speakers are DC current and these would work but I read online that they need to be non polarized. Also, I bought a pair of 220uf for my front Kicker 6.5"s, will that be a good cutoff point?
    Thanks for the help.

You don't need bass blockers anyway, turn your hpf crossover up to around 250 or so. That will block out any bass you got.

My speakers aren't amplified and I am running a stock head unit so there isn't a crossover to adjust. I returned those capacitors and got some bass blockers. I have no idea what they are rated at but they were free so it won't hurt to try.

ahhhhh, I was thinking that as soon as I replied. You could always put a little 2 channel on them and really make a difference in how they sound and gain the benefit of the crossover and a lot more power. a little 100 or 150 by 2 amp wouldn't cost much and should only need some 10ga wire although 8g would always be better.

I may do that soon. Whatever these capacitors are, they cut off wayyyyyy too high. I guess they are meant for tweeters. I'll probably just buy some of the right blockers tonight if I can find out what these are. Do you know what they are rated at if the markings on the side look like this:

I don't know much about bass blockers except that I stayed far away from them. Sorry I can't be much help there.
