    1996 Chevy 10 bolt

    hey guys my question is if i switch in a 6.0 lq9 into my truck with a tr224 cam, bigger injectors, full exhaust and tune do i need to update my 10 bolt rearend ?

    ChevyLee is running a 14bolt in his, you should ask him because he used to run the 10 bolt

    if the 10bolt has an actual limited slip then youll be fine for little while.

    update the carrier to something like the trutrac. Dont risk killing the carrier, gears and possibly transmissions when the carrier breaks.

    alright, because if i switched to a 14 bolt or even 12 wouldnt that change my lug pattern ? i do have a posi rear end but if i update the carrier it will be able to handle that power ?

    truck in sig has factory 10 bolt, with richmond 3.90 and a trutrac diff. with a t/a girlde cover. im selling the guts out of it as im buying a 454ss rear end off a friend. PM if you your interested

    try to upgrade. i grenaded my factory rear in a week after i put 400 hrsp in front of it...

    ive got an eaton unit for ya,i just took out my 10 bolt and installed a 14 bolt.
    mods:2004 sierra ext sb,20s ,big brake kit w,hawk pads,air bagged,2006 6.0 lq4 swap,vortec supercharged10psi, air to water intercooled w/ dual electric fans on it ,snow meth injection kit,60lbers, e-fans ,big radiator swap ,cam 218 /222 548/550 comp .hardened prs .1.85 comp roller rockers ,guideplates ,crane double springs,trans 4l65e built .pacesetter l/ts true duals w/x pipe and magnaflows,14 bolt rearend swap ,3.73s,aroemotive fuel pump system w/elec.fuel controller and bypass regulator a/n fittings, taylor 10.5s interceptor gauge,aem w/b a/f ,autometer boost/vac NELSON 93 OCTANE TUNED .

    was yours stock, maybe not built right?

    i have hit mine with a huge shot of nitrous and still no problem. my 11.5 was street trim on a baby 150 shot. i dont claim my other time, but the 10 bolt is just fine if done correctly. i wish i had axles though lol

    Still running the 10bolt in mine, until it breaks, but you know what, it still hasn't hahah, after all this abuse. Rearend has close to 250K miles on it.
    It does has upgraded parts in it though.

    it'll hold for a while.
