    Future Plans..... 5.3 stroker

I asked this in another thread... But no answers yet. So to get the attention of those who know more than me... well I will just ask in a new thread.
Once I turbo the 5.3 and fiddle with it a lil longer I will be getting close to the red line on how much the stock internals can take (being at 100000 miles doesnt help). So I started pondering 6.0 sometime next year. Then I read about a stroker kit for the 5.3. I believe it was the 4.0XX something crank with the block bored out to stock ls1 sized pistons making it a 383 stroker.... Right? has anyone had any luck with this set up. Would it be risky or would this be a good idea IF i wanted to use my old block. I dont know of anyone off hand that runs a 383 ls stroker in these trucks... kinda would like to see what it would do with a turbo... Of course it wouldnt make the power of the 408 but it would surely be a boost over my I think 32* cubes now.

5.3L block cannot handle being bored out to 4.000''. Max safe size is 3.908 LS1 overbore size. Don't go beyond that.

We've done several 383's from the 5.3L block.
    Bore 3.9 x 4.0" stroke.
Probably a good handful with no returns, so they must be holding.

We did use some custom Diamond pistons to make the cr 9.1:1 on the latest one, with the TVS1900, runs strong!

Another we used Eagles rotating kit, cr was 10.2:1 with 72cc heads. That one got a turbo and 5psi, very torque SOB.

And several all engine/NA. Much stronger than a 6L of course, nice upgrade for the 5.3L.

I think another member here is using his 5.3L block, turned it into a 5.7L forged, running procharger, almost 600whp I think.

    go for it,
    allen

ok allen I was looking up the eagle kit. It really wasnt priced too horrible. I would like to keep my CR around a 9/9.5 to one. That way it would be more boost friendly. I was thinkin of going for 10 psi. Any way for this? Dish pistons?
Another thing to ask greg. If you feel the stroke would be too much for my block what would the set up you are talking about turn out to cube wise? And is there a kit for this
The plans on my truck for reference is sometime next year when I have a good daily and my 5.3 is maxed out is turning it into a street/strip truck. If I wanted to drive it a few hours away I could but if I wanted to turn a high 10 I could do that as well.

Allen is very familiar with this kit, its an Fbody/Corvette LS1/LS6 4" stroker kit.

o so the big question is with allen. Would a stroker kit still be mannerd well enough with a good pick of cr and cam to enjoy it on the street when I wanted to?

Anyone with a stroker kit can answer that really. I have one and its just fine on the street as a daily driver. I would suggest an oil catch can since there will be a little more oil vapors/mist floating around in the block due to the increased stroke.
