    Angry Transmission Help!

well my transmission took **** on me on the way to work yesterday 103k miles. It started earlier in the week having problems shifting from 1st to 2nd. It either would not shift until about 4000rpm or you had to let of the gas and get back on it easy for it to shift. The rest of the gears seem to shift fine though except if you floored it and then it would tach out again. Now it still does the 1st to 2nd thing, but it will not shift out of 2nd gear. I even shifted into 3rd and it does nothing but rev up. Any ideas? Shift solenoids, converter, clutches? There is no engine light on and my code scanner only reads DTC''s not trans codes.

Assuming your fluid level is good, clutches toast... 2-4 band & reverse input drum likely to be worn. Won't know for sure 'til you tear it apart. Upgrade time...

with that many miles it was only a matter of time. Get it rebuilt and you'll be rolling down the road again. Since you're running a 4wd I would suggest to get a performance rebuild rather than just a stock, so it can handle the torque loads put on the transmission when four wheeling or beating the snot out of it on the street making 4wheel drive engaged launches.

Test drove a buddy's RCSB Z71. Threw it in 4HI and had a blast going forward with the back end stuck out!

So probably not going to get away easy. I was hoping it was just the shift solenoids. Don't have he time or the space to do it myself right now. Anyone know how much it will cost with labor to have it down at the Dealer or a transmission shop?

Shift solenoids would affect certain patterns and would cause an SES light. You probably have a smoked 2-4 band and wiped out 3-4 clutches.

3-4 clutch failure if I had to guess. Feel free to give us a call if you are looking for a replacement transmission. Currently we are running a 10% off special with free return shipping of the core.

Well I did not have the room in my garage to install myself and its to damn cold here right now to have it hanging out the garage door.
So i got a great deal on a GM Factory replacement and labor cost at a dealer 3 year 100,000 mile warranty. Out the door for $2100.00. I ordered a corvette servo kit and another HD trans cooler. I drop it off Tuesday morning and had it back Wednesday. Back on the road again!

Holy crap that's cheap, a SRTA 4L60E is $2650 up here, then add your labour and 13% sales tax.
