    electric fan question

ok guys, i have an 04 standard cab 5.3, and i am getting ready to install a set of ls1 fans. well i just measured my radiator and it appears to be a 34 inch. the fan shroud is 28, will the ls1 fans still work. and also is it ok to temporalily hard wire the fans so they are running all the time untill i get my nelson harness and tune? next month i am changing the cam and want to wait till then to get the ecu upgrade, any feedback much appreciated, thanx nick

Since you have the 34" radiator you should get the new silverado fans from the 05 and newer models. Its a direct bolt in affair that way.

+1, my '05 Tahoe E-fans took all over 30 secs to install. bolts right in.
If you have the 34" radiator its the way to go.
Got mine brand new off ebay for $250.

I'm sure the 34" radiator was an option.

Yes, the efans will fit, you just might have a tad little extra trouble mounting it up with the bigger radiator.

There's no way I'd use the small fans with the good radiator if I could afford the OEM fans. Yes, you can hard wire them to always run with the key on but it is winter and you'll want heat. Sell the LS1 fans and get the bolt-ins.

    going ahead with oem fans

i havent bought the ls1 fans but was about too, wanted to make sure they would work first. my freind can get me some oem fans used for a little under $200, so i am gonna go ahead and get them and order the harness and ecu from nelson, i will just get another ecu when i do the cam swap, still gonna be a month or so.
