Howdy guys! Newb here with some questions. Here's what I'm considering:
    L31->LS1 5.7
    TR224 cam
LS6 intake (if it doesn't have it already)
    Warlbro 255 fuel pump

That should produce some good power throughout the band. I know a couple guys using it on thier f-bodies. I see the engines/trannies run anywhere from $2500-4000. Then I'll have to buy the harnesses from Lee's High Tech Trucks or Painless. My questions are:

It looks like GMCwantsLS1 can sell me pre-made engine mounts. Is that still the case? If not does anyone have a link to a diagram. I think someone mentioned Street & Performance (SPE I guess?).

It also looks like I can retain factory systems (ac, steering pump, water pump etc.) by going with the vette accessories and not have to modify the frame or anything on the truck. Did I read that right?

I assume the truck hoses and all will fit up to these new accessories or will I have to custom make them? This goes for fuel and emissions as well.

Will f-body or vette headers fit with keeping everything else in the same place on the truck?

I'm not real worried about cruise control but will that remain functional? Anything not functinal after the swap?

I have a 4l60e as my Tahoe is auto, should I keep the truck tranny or use the LS1 tranny?

It seems the driveshaft needs to be longer, where are you guys getting those?

Sorry for all the questions. I just thought I'd throw them out there now instead of making x-number of posts. Finally, is there anything I'm missing here? Would anyone care to share their cost for the swap? Thank you very much for your time!

    Matt

Bad news on the tranny. The LS1 tranny is different than the one in your 97 Tahoe. Bolt pattern is changed, depth of the torque convertor, different torque convertor, different flex plate, different stator on the front pump and different input drum in the tranny. Get the trans with the engine and save money and headaches.

any drive shaft shop can modify your shaft if needed. You'll have to get your engine in and see what you need afterwards. It all depends on the placement of the engine that will determine if you need shaft work.

I have a 34" radiator and a lower hose from a C2500 worked perfect. I used a f-body upper hose from a car without p/s cooler and then added the cooler. I cut the hose for a perfect fit. Definitely easier than it could have been.

Here is a template for the mount plates. http://www.ls1truck.com/jeff/template.jpg This is the plate I use and is similer to the ones S&P sell. Pretty easy to make if you have the time and tools.

    Something else to consider...
Lee's High Tech Trucks is slow as molasses when it comes to doing anything. You might be better off going straight to currentperformance.com, that's where he get's all his wiring work done anyway.

It should be the same for all small block chevrolets, it will even work for the 4.3s. Check out hpsalvage.com under the "project cars" section, that is the same plate he uses on all his swaps(that is where I got the idea from lol).
