    Auto-on Headlight fuse?

This one may be dumb. Does anyone know which fuse is the one for the sensor on the dash that automatically turns on the headlights at dusk? Any input is apprieciated. Oh yeah, its a 2000 GMC and yes I have read both fuse panels. I just cant figure it out. Thanks.

Set the parking brake every time you shut the truck off. Get in the habit. The DRL's or auto headlights if it's dark, will not come on until you release the ebrake. After you start the truck but before you release the ebrake to drive, press and release the dome override button four times. You should hear a chime. This will disable the DRL's or auto headlights for the current ignition cycle.

This does not work on GMT800 1999 trucks and the 2003+ doesn't need it 'cause of the switch difference but it works on the 2000-2002 (as well as 2000+ S-10's).

Since the DRL's run the high beams in parallel (like low speed 05-06 cooling fans), you'll loose lighting functionality by pulling fuses, etc. The auto headlights could be disabled by installing a certain rated resistor in place of the ambient light sensor I guess but I'm not sure what rating to use. I know for a fact unplugging the sensor or jumping the wires will not help as the BCM knows these voltage levels are both out of range....

Nathan, on my truck is there a way to cut off the auto day time head lights? I normally just lightly press the parking brake but Is there some fuse or something i can do to shut that off?

Ricky, you can pull the DRL diode or the relay. Make sure both low and high beams still operate as designed as there are some production differences. Some S-10's will have goofy headlights with the relay pulled but I think the older C trucks are OK. The diode, if it has it, looks like a fuse in the fuse panel but is black with a diode symbol silkscreened on it. The relay is behind the glove box on some, under the hood on others.

EDIT--the relay is under the LH side of the dash in the relay center and the diode is inline to the relay on a 1998 C truck. The diode is inline to the DRL/fog fuse so pulling it will do the same thing without having to find the diode. Try it both ways.

Ok Nathan...so the punching the Dome Override button 4 times won't disable the DRL/auto on headlights on a 99 NBS (GMT800) truck? Thats weird...that must be a NBS 99 thing only...
I can do the dome override switch at anytime--right after startup w/ parking brake on or not.
