Started this little gem of a job on Saturday. This is where 4.5 hours of work got me. Haven't even gotten the HVAC module removed yet so I can access the heater and evap cores :flame:

Do you really need a heater?

How does an evaporator go bad? And how do you know it is bad until you remove it?

When you have a buddy put in a can of 134a because your system won't hold a charge, and you hear hissing through the opening where the cabin filters go, and the pressure slowly bleeds off to zero while you're watching the gauge.....it's a pretty good guess that there's a crack in the evap core.
Oh, and you heater haters....I'm doing this job because of the evaporator core....which is the a/c.....which is EXTREMELY important here in AZ during the summer, lol. I did replace the heater core just because I was already in there and mine has 156,000 miles on it, but the primary reason was the evap core. I think I stressed something when I was moving the lines around trying to clear the old turbo kit downpipe.
Anyway, I got the HVAC module out and both cores replaced and started reassembling everything. One more night's work and I should have it all back together.
