    Advice on rear end parts

after seeing the rearend carnage that has come to some i have been looking at several lockers and gears...

    Auburn pro series
    Auburn high performance series

    1. whats the difference between them and will it fit...they say 8.6 inch 30 spline.

Richmond gears 3.73 good or should i go with the Motive gears?

I will definately have them professionally installed.

I've always had good luck with Motive gears, but I think the key to good gears is the install. The 3 above you mention are all good and depening on miles on your truck I would just on the safe side do the whole master install kit. Just be sure to find an installer that HAS done an install similar to what you are doing or ask around here for a good installer. You might also look at upgrading your gear fluids to Amsoil or Royal Purple for extra protection or whatever Chevy recommends and even a PML diff cover

PRO SERIES - The high bias cone clutch design of the Pro Series provides higher torque and preload, making it the ultimate limited-slip differential for outstanding performance. It is engineered to provide lightning- quick, torque-sensing traction when you need it. No buttons to push, no levers to pull, it merely goes into action when required. It handles superbly whether on or off the road.

HIGH PERF - From over the road daily driving to muddy trails and back roads, Auburn Gear's high bias High Performance Series limited-slip differentials outperform standard OEM differentials hands down. They deliver more traction and faster engagement for controlled power transfer and lightning-fast reaction to changing load conditions. No matter what your application - performance or passenger cars, light duty trucks, vans, sport utility vehicles, off road, or recreational vehicles - the Auburn Gear limited-slip differential is engineered to provide smooth torque-sensing operation with bias ratios to meet your performance needs. This superior performance is achieved through an innovative cone clutch design which transfers more power to the high-traction wheel for quick acceleration and tight cornering.

If you go Auburn, be sure they do NOT install synthetic lube or it will void the warranty.

What do you suggest, OEM???? and does it require any gear additives along with the severe gear oil???

I second Detroit Tru-Trac. And Precision... And I have heard only good things about Richmond gears as well. First try 4 Wheel Parts--good source cause they do gears all of the time. If not 4 Wheel---definitely go with the Stealership--doing gears is something that needs to be done right the first time...
