... on how long my trans will last this time. I lost count on how many times I've rebuilt it. I think this is where I'm at:
1. Stock trans (unknown miles) from litreddevil. That lasted me 2500 before it died.
2. Bought a stock trans on ebay for dirt cheap. Had to get parts swapped on it, and it still didn't shift past 1st.
3. Local tech attempted to rebuild 3 times, but didn't know what the problem was.
4. Gave up on local guy, and started doing myself. Went back to 1st trans, and found issue to be input sprag (forward sprag) Replaced that and clutches.
5. Drove it up to 4000 miles. Clutch failure, and replaced 'em with Alto's cheaper kind (not the REs... didn't know any better).
6. Clutches wore out again. Had a set of the same kind for free... swapped em in b/c i needed the truck to haul things for a relative.
7. Went to SCR, and lost 3 & above at the traps on my 5th pass. Oh well, do it right this time, right.
8. Replaced with REs, and inspected the trans in & out. Got 'er back, and drove up to 4750 miles. What happens now?
9. Pump rotor breaks, and I'm stranded in a not-so-safe part of town. GREAT!
10. A few weeks later, I get everything back together only to find a pinhole in my trans line. I get lazy for a few more days, then finally fix it (see this thread).
That's my story thus far. Two transmissions and several rebuilds (you count 'em, I'm tired). Place your bets...![]()
