    Direction I am going in...

Well I have been tossing ALOT of ideas around in my head. I got the 5.3 put in, and I mean talk about power compared to the 4.3. Its night and day. But now of course the performance bug started itching me pretty quickly after getting the motor in. I need some advice/input/suggestions on some ideas of what direction I want to take the truck in as far as the engine/transmission/drivetrain is concerned.

Here is what I plan on getting for sure in the next few months:

    - Electric fans
    - Eaton Posi
    - bigger ALT
    - optima battery

As far as the gearing is concerned. I wanted to wait on that until I figured out exactly which direction im going. Here are the options

    Option 1:
    - Keep the 5.3 in
    - Trick front mount (Intro kit +intercooler)
    - custom grind turbo cam. Looking into a 220 with a little higher LSA. Still trying to do some reading on that/get input to figure out which would be the best cam for a setup like that.
    - 42lb inj
    - walbro (if need be)

    - Transmission:
    - if I went with the trick setup, I wouldnt have the money to do a fully built 65e right away, so I would most likely go with:
    - transgo shift kit
    - superior 4th servo
    - already have the 1-2 servo
    - depending on the cam size. Most likely a 2800-3000 stall.
    - deeper transmission pan
    - already have a b&m tranny cooler

    Gearing:
Im kind of stuck at this point because I wanted since I want to do the eaton posi, I would want to get the gears put in at the same time. But since this first option would allow me to have some more top end (of course depending on the cam) I was thinking about just sticking with my 3.42s I have now. I don't know if i would go with the 3.73s only because I dont think i would see that big of a difference from the 3.42s to the 3.73s. Plus if I went 4.10s, I dont know if my topend would be that great if I went with this first option. That and my truck is light as hell so I would just spin.

    Option 2:
    - Same as option one but get a used STS turbo
    - meth injection
    - walbro

    Transmission:
If I went with a used STS, I could save myself some money and get a fully built 65e, and not really worry about transmission problems for a long time.

    Gearing:
    - same predicament as the first option.

    Option 3:
    - Allen mentioned that they (Nelson Performance) bore out a 5.3 to a 370 for a pretty reasonable price I think.
    - Cam (I would need to find more out about the 370 to decide on a cam)
    - basically the whole nine yards with the internals if I went with the 370.

    Transmission
    - I think I might have enough cash to spare a fully built 65e
    - deeper pan
    - depending on the cam size, possibly a 3000+ stall.

    Gearing
    - I would definately go 4.10s if I went this route because I would want it to be a 1/4 queen.

    Option 4:
    -
    - cam to compliment the spray

    Transmission
    - Fully built
    - stall depending on what cam I went with

    Gearing
    - most likely 4.10s

Im getting ready to get my posi in and I wanted some advice as far as which direction I wanted to go so I didnt make the wrong choice as far as the gearing is concerned. Any comments/suggestions and so forth would be greatly appreciated.

    thanks,
    david
