Thread: rear end question

    im looking to buy a locking differential for my truck. i foud some on ebay and was woundering. i have the 8.6
    and i see some with the 8.5. will the 8.5 work without changing the bearings thanks.

    The 8-5/8" rear end is the same as the 8-1/2" rear end. Just be sure you buy one with 30 splines and made for the new model truck. They make bearings to swap a newer posi unit into an older truck but I'm not sure if they make the older trucks fit the newer ones.

    Stay away from a G80 in performance applications. It WILL break on you eventually taking the gears and possibly driveshaft and transmission with it.
