Thumbs up

I just had my B&M 28k Trans Cooler (P/N 70266) installed and didn't notice a drop in temperatures!! What gives??? My trans guy says that the temp sensor in the L60E is at the bottom of the pan and that the only way to get a true reading of the cooler fluid is to have a sensor right after the cooler. He also went on to say that the trans is designed to run at slightly higher temperatures (175-200 F). Anybody have any feedback on this?? The reason I am concerned is because I read the post that Allen put up a while back saying that his B&M cooler dropped the temps down to 145 F!?!?

Mounted in between the FMIC and radiator. My intake and water temps haven't changed so I know it's getting good air flow.

I read that if ur not seeing low temperature weather in ur zone, u can disconect the OEM pipes that goes in the OEM water radiator and just leave the Aux and the B&M one for working by them selfs.

don't belive me so, but it had worked for me really good in my 2 rigs.

    Any more opinions?

You want to know the temp of the fluid in the pan, not the line. The transmission gets the fluid from the pan and runs it everywhere before it sends it to the cooler. The cooler is just an auxillary add-on feature. The pressure of the oil in the cooler does no work and is a low pressure operation. Worry only about what the temp of the oil is in the pan. Personally, I would never remove the water cooler from the radiator because the heat exchange is much faster than the air exchange of the heat, that's why these big engines are not air cooled. If the air cooler was mounted before the water cooler for the transmission fluid you will not get any benefits of the additional cooler. The fluid should flow through the radiator and then to the supplemental cooler and then back to the transmission.

I've got the stock tranny cooler and mine runs consistantly at 155 for normal driving. My trans was built to flow better though...?? Towing it will get to about 180-185. My tranny guy told me that I need to start shutting her down if she gets up to 200+ degrees.

Sorry for the misunderstanding, but the mounting location of the core is after the FMIC and before the radiator. So basically it is directly behind the FMIC show in the pic.

The lines, however, are connected in series with the stock trans cooler (tow package) which I am assuming is after the radiator. Does that sound right Red? Sorry, totally clueluess when it comes to this stuff!!

I didn't see an increase in temps until I put the Yank in. Then they were constantly like 180-190 when in traffic on a 95+ degree day. I thought the same about the temps (200 and shut it down) but my trans guy said don't worry unless they creep over 220!!

Yeah, if the lines are spliced into the lines from the factory cooler you are fine. Also, don't forget that any heat removed by the FMIC will be passed onto and added back to anything in it's air flow.

So even though he didnt see a change in the gauge saying that the temp is dropping, his transmission is seeing a change?

It depends, did the add-on cooler come with a bypass? My tru-cool came with one that will bypass the cooler until the fluids get hot. I tossed it in the drawer. I want my fluids as cold as possible.
