Thread: impala ss or caprice rear end swap?

    does anyone know of a caprice or impala rear end with rear discs and posi actually being possible to swap into a C/K full size with out any modifications..i know they have the same bolt pattern but is it the same rear end? thanks for any help
    Project: 91' short wide:
    GMC front end update with billet grille and all clears, 17x8 & 17x11 Torq Thrust II's
    5/7 drop, almost totally shaved and 93 Deville tails
    Future Plans: 2001 LQ4 6.0L & a T-56

    DD: 98' 5 speed GT : Dumped Exhaust, CAI

    they are not drict bolt in ... if it disk brakes you want i can tell you have to add them for 150.00 or less .. to you stock rearend ..

    yeah how do you add rear discs for &#036;150? and when i do the swap will my wheel offset change?

    i bought most of my parts from summitracing they have no core charge on there calipers.. there cross drill rotor are cheaper then stock .. that will be the part number i&#39;ll use . you can go to any auto parts store and buy all these parts or go to the junkyard.

    here the part number for calipers
    RNB-CA10102R &#036;26.95
    RNB-CA10101L &#036;26.95

    here the part number for rotors
    SUM-DSEP-55017L &#036;49.95
    SUM-DSEP-55017R &#036;49.95

    you need two front brake lines for a 1998 s-10 .. i use some custom made steel braided line from www.smileysracing.com.. you can get them from any parts store &#39;

    The parts list that came with my KORE3 kit lists the calipers and rotors for this conversion.
    GM #&#39;s are 18028256 for straight vane rotor x2.

    18035980 RH w/e-brake loaded
    18035815 LH wo/e-brake
    18035814 RH wo/e-brake

    The only thing you really need to modify are the brackets need to be beveled a little, like the diagrams in earlier posts. Then you either weld on the bracket or drill 2 holes in each to bolt it on. Also dont forget to drill the holes to 9/16 in the rotors.

    What took the longest was grinding the bracket, test fitting, grinding, testing, etc. Then fitting everything together 3 or 4 times until i was satisfied all was good. Very easy

    The disc brake rear isn&#39;t a leaf spring rear in the impala if I remember correctly. You&#39;d have to have mounting perches welded to it.

    alright thanks for the great info i should be doing it soon..hopefully... Were you happy with how your backets finally turned out or how they originally came?.. what plates did you buy? The ones from kore3 or speedway? thanks for all the help i really appreciate it

    mechanical E-brake calipers on the rear of 79-85 caddys. seville. and, 91641009 is correct&#33;

    Using the s10 calipers will cause you to loose your e-brake. If you use the impala rear calipers you will retain ebrake. Just FYI.
