    Thumbs up

First off, I will start this by saying the guy I bought this from has already agreed to take it back and pay for shipping and refund all my $$.

I bought this from a reputable guy for a great price. It was shipped UPS, but not the best hadling/packaging. In this guys defense, he didn't package it, a friend did it for him. Here is how the package arrived:

I know 'verters are tough, but the snout had worn a hole completely through the packaging. It was wrapped and taped with duct tape, and it appears to be fine. If I pick it up and shake it, you can hear stuff rattling inside, but that might be normal. I don't know.

    What should I do?

They do rattle when you shake them. Just check the snout for any damage, if you see none i think it will be fine.

They rattle. There are clutches and plates in there. Only reason they wouldn't rattle is if they're full of fluid. Was it new or used?

Just be sure there isn't cardboard down the hole. If so, vac it out with a shop vac.

Send it back! If it was dropped, it will vibrate. If you go to all the trouble to install it and it is damaged you will be disapointed and it may cause harm to your tranny. I'm sure some will disagree with me but I'm just working from experence.

UPS likes to play kickball with your shit.We just settled on some 1500.00 vette seats that look like they were kicked out of truck going 60mph..The shipper took pics of the packages before he sent them to UPS.When the driver got here,I met him at the truck and he was rolling them to the back and 1 seat fell out.He looked at me like I was crazy for being pissed off!

If you think long you think wrong. Go with your first instinct which hopefully is send it back.
UPS can honk on the booboo. They stole a 2ct diamond solitaire from me and told me, when I wanted them to pay the insurance, that I was trying to commit insurance fraud. I insured the diamond for 1/2 of what I had it sold for. I had one upset customer that I had to give her her money back. UPS has little fine print that says they can denie any claim for any reason. Bastards. If you ever have to ship any thing of great value registered insured USPS is the only safe way to go.

I would be afraid to say keep it but also that might be a deal of a lifetime and you want to keep it, so if your debating on keeping it then inspect all the edges and see if the metal has any flat spots on it, on the snout, on the fins, and on the ears where you bolt it on. If there are no flat spots on any of these then it prolly hasnt been dropped or anything, most likely scooted around on the floor because they were to lazy to pick it up. Also does the verter have a rubber plug over the input end of the item, if not then I would definately send it back.....just me 2 cents......inspect and decide!
