i have a 4l60e transmission (99 silverado 5.3l swap), trying to figure out whats best, a new one (upgraded) if so which one.. or a transgo shift Kit, (which one) with vette servos.

p.s. the tansmission has a 100k miles on it so if new would be benificial which one would i need to get? also getting a stall for this truck a 3000 yank more then likely.

p.s.s. mods on truck, a nelson tune, cold air intake, AEM brute force headers ( not installed yet) a cam havent decided on size. also looking at heads.. would like to know whats a good set... also have a posi trac rearend that i will be installing soon i think it has 3.73 gears not foresure ...

p.s.s.s. lol sorry if i sound green about all this but i am lol but when i start a project like i have, like most mentioned its adicting, and theres no limit on what i can spend but then again this will be a very day driven truck ....

A rebuild kit would be nice for the 5.3 if you plan on keeping the mods to a minimum. But once you start upgrading the engine, that transmission is sure to go. I guess it all depends on what you have in store for the truck.

If you have the money, look into a finishline transmission. Those things are bullet proof from what I have read and seen and I'm planning on going that route once I get my 5.3 into the truck as well.

thanks ducky , ok this is what i am looking at for future, installing a new modified cam ( have no idea on which one or size yet) a good stall, and more then likely modified heads.. i am looking to push close to 500 rwhp before said and done, but i still have to keep in mind this truck will be driven daily even though i live about 8 minutes from my job i love my truck and it will be driven lots of times.... ( at lease until next year when i buy a new one)...

you mention finish line this is fine but i guess i am needing to know which one lol..

If you have sticker shock over the price of the FLT, check out TRTTurbo.com, they have a built 4L60e for a really good price and they are starting to keep one in stock at all times. If that doesn't work for you there are others out there too. Check out the site sponsors for their current deals.

We have one unit basically ready. They are vacume modulated and so have a 2 year warranty on hydrolics. We have these behind several 500rwhp cars that are doing beautiful. Also, a track only car with 300+ passes and still going strong. These are typically less than $1500.00.
    Thanks for the props Greg.

That would be Billy at TRT that can help you out there. Give him a call, he's very helpful and can do your install if you're local or want to deliver the truck to him.

You could probably schedule a specific day to drive up there for an install and they could finish the swap that day, I would think. Beaumont's not that far. I used to make day trips to there from Dallas.
