As far as the system thing goes... i upgraded to a 145amp alt, and ran better cables, and my lights still get DIM at stop lights with stereo going...but are 100% normal once i start driving. Worth it IMO...and according to the ass-dyno. Was NEVER able to spin the 35's until i put it on, now i can squeal em from a dead stop.
I have never seen a real dyno graph showing more than 9 rwhp with just the addition of the underdrive pulley. That doesn't mean no one has, but I have yet to see one, and I've been looking for 5 years.

As far as the topic at hand, how come no one has said nitrous? Biggest gain for the money hands down. Still like said I would upgrade to a 6.0 first.

But the most bang for your buck would be some nitrous. I would also get some 3.73's and a locker too. All the power in the world doesn't mean squat if it doesn't get put to the pavement right. LQ9 is probably the best thing you can do though. Buy it, get what ever you can get with the leftover cash and build as you can. When you have everything you want, motor swap time.
Dude? I never get credit for anything except being a ron. I always thought that no one listened to me.

Cam, stall, tune, injectors, fuel pump, tune...

    I would go with a TSP 220/220 on a 112
    A Circle D 3k stall
    8.1l injectors
    Wahlbro pump
    Find a good tuner

Even if you install all this yourself and find good deals I doubt you will be under $1500. You might get away with the cam without the injectors or pump but you better have that in the budget BEFORE you install the cam. The stall will be $375 shipped to your door and worth every penny!
