I seem to have decent luck finding cheap stock transmissions, so I may do that for now, until I can get a good built one. Wont try to race it. I just want to be able to drive the truck at least instead of letting it sit in the driveway or just sitting on jack stands.

The other thing I thought of is learning to rebuild these and getting everything cryo treated so I dont have to worry about the hard parts. I am not running any power adders just yet, so that it may hold out for more than 200 miles..
5.3, small cam, 918 springs, 7.4 rods, walboro pump, Full built 4l60, 2800-3000 stall, TB spacer, long tubes, cat delete, single 3" exhaust with Aero bullit muffler. Flaco tuned.

dallas, if you find a good 80e I can help you out and show you everything that needs to be done. Its all really pretty simple, just got to modify the stock xmember but even that wasnt to hard.

If you want, buy a decent stock unit and run it without racing it and have the one of several you have built. You may also wanna see about selling your extra cores or trading them into your tranny builder for credit. A good core is worth $150-$200...

Noe.. And I agree, thats why I am going to something else If I am forking out the money again.. I have considered doing it myself. I can buy all the parts, have all of the hard parts cryo treated and put it together.. I have a stock trans that blew 3-4 so I can practice with that until I am confident in building it all by myself. At least that way, since I am doing all my own labor, I might as well learn to build a transmission.
