Did you check the link I left on my last post? There are some nice slightly used ones out there for cheap compared to new... And beware of what Cody was saying--and the shifting linkage on the T-56 is having a bunch of problems too--far what I've heard... I would only spend around $30k on a low mileage unit--and spend a little extra beefing up what is weak...

    That was quick, lol.

Most of these cars are in good shape and anything with around 50K or less will be a good running engine. Make sure it doesn't have a cold start knock, which isn't that bad, doesn't smoke and the clutch feels good.
It'll basically come down to how clean the car is, because every cts i've been in is very clean.

    good choice,

it will have to be from an old man if i can find one, the money you save on buying a low mile used you can buy a new engine usually anyways.

i did see the link, im always afraid to buy used from a dealer because they are so often either been leased or rental cars that have been beaten on really bad.
when hertz or some rental place leases them for a year it can still be claimed as a 1 owner car. i may end up getting a new one depending on what the bank says if i cant find a good used one privately. but i been browsing autotrader. is there any fix for the linkage? can the rear end be swapped out for something stronger?

    thanks for the link also.

From what has been said, you can swap an 06 rear axle in there--that will fix the problem. Here is a link that you'd be interested in... Also, the shifting linkage is an issue in some cars...not all have them. I am sure you will register with CTS-V forums soon and get all of that stuff ironed out...

well i just got back from bank and the dealer. the bank wont let me know until tommorrow but after going to the dealer and seeing what they had i made a decision. i checked out a 2007 cts which is basically the same interior other than the manual trans and then i checked out an 08. holy crap the 08 is freaking amazing
    im gonna order a black/black 08 cts-v

the only problem is it is gonna be like 5 months to get it. by then i can almost pay for it anyways and may not have to even go thru the bank which will be really nice.
