Thread: What stroker most power for the money for whipple

1. #1
Well I took a day to put the headers on and I'll be damned, there is a bolt broke off in the engine. If my tech can not get it out I really do not want to pull a head. At 110k miles I would prefer to put an engine in it. A reliable well built engine that is not going to spin bearings or any of that shit. I thought about the World warhawk but I can not spend 15k and an ls7 conversion is beyond my scope. I would like it to be as simple of a swap as possible. "keep in mind I am a dumbass when it comes to mechanikin"
I still want to use the whipple and would like it to be able to use the meth. I want some serious torque and still have lots of top end. 525 rear wheel horsepower is the goal with the whipple and I would like the engine to be able to handle nitrous.
I am just in the planning for the worst and would still have to come up with the dough. my wife says no debt. She even specified my credit line at the bank, she knows me too well.
I think 6k is the most I could raise for parts and engine.

Why not just replace it with a LQ9 crate engine? At $3750 that's hard to beat! It's proven HP and comes with a warranty.

I really would like some more cubes.

What would it take to put an ls2 in it and would it have too much compression for the whipple. Or is there an aluminum 6.0 Didn't the caddys have them?

I am buying one like this only the part number is 19156262 that comes with intake/fuel injection, water pump, oil pump, pretty much everything, but accessories. This with a cam before install, I think will be strong running. I think this is the one RedHeartbeat is talking about. I would have already had it done, but work has been crazy lately, and if I wait long enough I can get a supercharger at the same time.

damn, if you can get a brand new LQ9 for $3700 why would anyone pay that much for a used complete engine?

Yeah that's what I'm thinking. Zero miles and a warrant vs. a motor that has been through who knows what...I'd spring for an LQ9. If I was starting completely over, that where I would start with my truck.

Sure any info helps.

I am kinda stuck. We could not get the damn #$%^$#%&^% bolt out and have exhausted all efforts.
Next either pull the head. "I do not want to do that" ,Pull the whole motor and fix it and cam it at the same time. The Pain in the ass is removing the whipple first. I still need to discuss this with the guy that will be doing the most work. Whats easier pull the engine and drill the f'n head and fix it out of the truck which may not be possible. "the head is really fucked at this point" The good part is I could through a cam in it at the same time. If I go cam route which one to make the most of the whipple and stall but keep in mind that I tow a trailer on a regular basis and have 3.73 gears.
My wife refuses to let me borrow the jack to replace it with an 8 thousand dollar motor. I understand her point. We have other plans at moment not to mention my daughters tuition is due in 2 months. 4500$, my quarterly taxes will be due in 1 month and well it is lot. Plus I spent the money at the beginning of the year for a level 5 FLT trans Trq converter and the likes. My wife has also had 4 eye surgerys that insurance has only paid about 2500 dollars on. I have paid the Dr more than what I originally paid for my truck. So it pains me very much but I can not buy a stroked motor heads cam etc etc etc.
I could get away with putting a cam and springs in it. The engine has 110k miles on it and about 20k with the whipple. So it would suck to pull it and not replace it. I feel like this is wasted time and labor. What the hell should I do??? ? ? ? ?

Need to mention that my typing sucks and I just got home from spending most of the day trying to get the bolt out of the head. Drivers side closest to the firewall. Right angle air drill with shortened drill bits multiple easy outs. We even tryed to weld a nut to the basterd. That might have worked if we had done it first. Dinner at the mexican resteraunt with a gigantic margarita. I am about to mix up an extra large glass of Jack adn water. So what I typed might not make sense.
I think I will start a new thread. All opinions are appreciated. Thanks for all the help.
