is the 500 rpm over stock going to make the trans run to hot? i'm not sure if the stock cooler will be efficient enough.

It probably will be efficient enough, but remember heat kills a tranny. It wouldnt hurt to ugrade it.

i have a tb stall behind my 6.0 and it rose the temps from 165-170 to around 190-200. but i'm also down here in florida with the bad azz heat. so i just got a tru-cool 4590 cooler (28,000 gvw) and it took my temps back down to 160-165. its working very well and it was easy to install.

If your truck doesn't have a cooler get one. If you have a stall convertor, get a big cooler. If you tow with your truck, get a good size cooler. If you live in a hot climate, get a transmission cooler. If you haven't figured it out yet, GET A TRANS COOLER! BTW, if you have a small diameter torque convertor you probably should buy a larger capacity transmission pan, also. I lost over 2 quarts of fluid capacity when I changed convertors. That means all the heat is now in a smaller package and it will heat up much faster than before. I have a bigger pan on my list.
