No, I'm serious. I know guys that make as much as I do and can't remember anything and have no common sense at all. Just depends on who you work for I guess. Most of my family works offshore and international. I have thought about it but I like being on land and withing driving distance at home. My company has sent me to a few other countries but it doesn't last long.

I guess some can slip through the cracks. But dont think they are going to make Driller, Toolpusher, OIM, Company man, ROV pilot, Mud engineer. I mean ya i guess that in entry level stuff you could get away with being stupid but, not if they move you up.

You haven't worked on Texas land rigs much have you. Haha. I worked for Nabors for many years and by the time I was pushing tools I had seen a good amount of idiots in positions they never should have been in. I know what you are saying though, and offshore is a lot stricter than on land. You are working in Nigeria? We just sent a couple of guys there for a freeze job.
I guess my job is about 25% entry level, mainly the manual labor part.

as much as i hate to say it, our starting salary with very little overtime will put you over 100k a year, with that said and not being able to find qualified machinist, even in the field i deal with MORONS everyday![]()
basically what has happened the company i work for took the apprenticeship program away and they just thought the union hands out in the field would teach them, sorry the union doesnt work that way !!
ive also noticed the dumper you are or act the quicker youll advance, just to get you out of the hands on field of work !! yeah i know sad isnt it? but it happens
i will edit this and say shell has took some control of our hiring ability to help get more qualified workers in instead of everyones brother, brother in law, family members and such!!
Simple: 408 on steroids!
single digits coming soon!
Our Level 1 Service Operators/Trainee will start off making about 150k a year. Company truck, laptop, company bought tools, and of course a fuel card. Our Level 3 Operators will average around 180-200k a year. There is some of that brother in law stuff, but not much. The way we advance is to move to the fishing side, move up in BTI or transfer into Wild Well Control(sister company). I originally hired on as a fishing hand but we don't have enough fishing equipment to go around. Our lowest level shop hands make about 80k a year.
