Awesome build and truck. Thanks for the updates, I just picked up a low mileage 5.3 out of a 07 Silvy.

What is your recommendation on the harness? Should I use the harness that came with the 5.3 or go new. I didn't get the ecu nor the DBW pedal so I will need to get those somewhere also.

Do you have a list of items needed for this conversion? Would make for a good sticky. nice job

does the timing cover have a cam sensor in it(GenIV) or is it on the back of the engine behind the intake manifold(GenIII). 07s had them both ways depending on if it was the Classic body style vs. the latest body style truck. GenIII has a black crank sensor above the starter and GenIV has a grey one.

The cam sensor is in the front on the timing plate cover.

Okay, so verify that you have the grey sensor above the starter, this will tell you that you have the GenIV engine and will have to use the appropriate PCM/TCM combination with your setup. I am not sure how many places do a custom harness for the GenIV but I'm sure you can find out pretty quickly. Start with Nelson Performance, Current Performance, hotrodlane.cc and a few others to see if they're doing them. There are quite a few others out there working over factory harnesses for standalone applications. Keep us updated on what you find out and start you a build topic.

And also replaced those cheesy blue connectors with black silicon ones.

I think it looks pretty sexy in there! Still needs a rad cover though..

This thread is awesome....it really needs a small video of a........say quick burnout! LOL Seriously, this is nice. I'm trying to convince my neighbor to do a 4.8 in his 5spd truck.
